Two Bald Eagles soar over Big Beef Creek in the state of Washington. There were eagles everywhere here, catching the fish that were feeding in this creek. Capturing two in tandem flight was a special treat.
My first encounter with a rain forest, this glade in Lake Crescent in the Olympic National Forest came as a surprise. After days and days of deep green, moss covered trees and their remnants, encountering this glade of blue flowers was a rest for the eyes and soul.
This captures the feel of the deep rain forest on the Olympic peninsula in Olympic National Park. Growing up in the eastern forests of the Appalachian Mountains, I was astonished at how lush and green these forests are.
